White Cat on Victorian furniture
Watercolor on Cold Press Watercolor Paper
This is yet another cat painting that didn't turn out quite as I had planned. I envisioned a white cat glowing against the dusky light of a Victorian living room. My grandmother had a lot of the heavy furniture of that era, and the curtains were usually drawn so that the light wouldn't fade the upholstery. But once I started painting, I could not bring myself to follow my own rules. I wanted the padded chair to have hearts and stripes, not a more Victorian floral design... and I couldn't bring myself to use the somber colors of that era either.
