When we first adopted Widget, we lived on the first floor of a two story apartment house. Widget would nap on the windowsill, only taking an occasional break to watch the birds that visited the narrow strip of grass between the front steps and the street. When the mailman came and slipped letters through the mail slot, Widget would lunge at the door, growling.
